Last week was something out of Alice in Wonderland. Democrats, with the help of
the old media, were able to spin and discard the numerous scandals involving our
elected officials. The flood of bad behavior by our 'elites' stunned even this hardened
conservative:
Our Elected Officials:
Another super-delegate (latest count: 5) was indicted. Detroit's 'Hip-Hop' Mayor
was charged Monday with
perjury and other counts. Another Democrat caught with his
pants down.
New York Governor, David Paterson,
added to his confession of 'multiple affairs' by admitting
to cocaine use. Further investigation also unearthed that Mayor Paterson's hotel
trysts were paid for with campaign funds. Ho hum.
New York Senator Hillary,
was caught lying, again. Her oft told tale of braving enemy
fire in Bosnia was thoroughly debunked by a video of the occasion. Hillary apologized
for 'misspeaking' and chalked it up to her being human. Who'd a thunk?
Three Democrat lawmakers were found to have
travelled to Iraq during the run-up to the war, on Saddam
Hussein's dime. Saddam got his money's worth as these patriotic Democrats used the
occasion to condemn their own country while on enemy soil. Another big ho hum.
Meanwhile, it was discovered that the US has
been outsourcing the manufacture of our new electronic passports
to overseas companies, including one in Thailand that was victimized by Chinese
espionage. Our elected officials were too busy to notice. They were
passing a budget that will raise taxes on every American
household by an average of $3,000 bucks. Don't expect Congress to share in the sacrifice.
Speaking of stuck on stupid: A new study shows that most American states tax job
providers at a higher rate
than any other country in the developed world. The irony
is, when business relocate to more tax friendly countries, Republicans get blamed.
Maybe they should:
Republican presidential candidate McCain has
come out in favor of a new Kyoto Treaty. Estimated cost
of old treaty: $7,000 per household, on top of all other taxes. All for Mother Earth.
Before you start puling out your hair, I'll move on to the:
Good News:
An Eastern pennsylvania judge has ordered three men to
learn English or go to jail. Senator 'wide-stance' Larry
Craig, caught soliciting sex in a bathroom, has decided
not to run for reelection.
Slowing the banning of God in the public square, "In God We Trust" will return
to the front of the $1 coin beginning in 2009. (A 2005 law had relegated
our national motto to the edge of the coin.) Also, a federal
appeals court ruled that a monument inscribed with the Ten
Commandments does not violate the Constitution just because it sits on public lands.
This conservative is wondering, with the strict separation of church and state,
how Miami University students
have been allowed to celebrate Islamic Awareness Month,
on campus, by broadcasting a call to prayer every Friday.
Warming my heart was the news that the old media appears to have
accelerated its decline, as total print advertising revenue
plunged 9.4% in 2007. That's the most severe percentage decline in 50 years. Guess
they still haven't caught on about how capitalism and markets work. RIP
Fox News had the audacity to
air a program questioning whether the old media "are committing
a crime against the general public" and creating a self-fulfilling prophesy by their
one-sided gloom and doom reporting on our economy. You think? Speaking of the media,
researchers at Harvard said the
negative portrayal of Iraq by the media had a measurable
"emboldenment effect"on the terrorists. Duh.
Israel has issued a formal rejection of an offer
by former US President Jimmy Carter and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to
mediate a ceasefire between the Jewish state and the Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip.
Translation: Butt Out, Carter. Sound advice indeed.
I save the best for last. Despite what you hear in the media, a
new survey reveals that America's "millennials," those between
ages 21 and 29, are actually a generation brimming with adultlike respect for American
institutions, family values and work ethics. Whoa!
Islam:
The Vatican said Sunday that
Islam has overtaken Roman Catholicism as the largest single
denomination in the world. Meanwhile, Sharia creep is invading our schools, government
and society. Drip, drip, drip.
A Dutch MP released an anti-Koran film, 'Fitna' on the Internet. Alas, the server
got so many death threats that they were
forced to pull it. This is called censorship by intimidation.
An Islamic speciality.
Life and Death:
A
new annual report
from Planned Parenthood shows the nation's largest abortion provider has made over
a
Billion Bucks in profit for the first time in its history. In
other life and death news: A German lawyer and politician has unveiled Europe's
first suicide machine for people with a death wish as "an
act of Christian love." He might consider marketing this death machine in Oregon
which had more recorded deaths by physician-assisted suicide in 2007 than in any
year in the decade since the practice was legalized.
Culture:
The loony left scored a big win last week on one of their most enduring causes (besides
abortion). A federal
appeals court ruled that cop-killer, Mumia, can't be executed
without a new penalty hearing. Celebrations all around.
Family restaurant, McDonalds,
has decided to sign on to the gay agenda. This should go
a long way in equalising our marriage rates with Britains' where
marriage rates hit the lowest rate since records started
being kept. Lovely.
Nearly
one in 10 Ohioans now receives food stamps, the highest
number in the state's history. Pretty soon we'll be following England again. Meet
the
"shameless family". They boast three generations of adults
who are not working.
In another
win for the gay lobby, Democratic candidates for president
have endorsed virtually the full slate of items on the homosexual agenda, and apparently
its because gays turn out at the polls at nearly double the rate of the general
voting public.
The consequences of promoting and validating the gay lifestyle are pretty much ignored.
Like the
new
study showing sexually active homosexual men are far more likely to become
infected with a new, dangerous, drug-resistant infection that is most often spread
through skin-to-skin contact.
There's much more but I'm getting depressed. If you want to keep track of this stuff,

Remember, despite all the craziness, there are many positive indicators out there.
They're just not reported. And just because the left says something is so, doesn't
make it so.
To leave you with a smile, you might want to check out this
excellent video, which shows Hillary under fire in Bosnia.
Maybe she didn't lie after all:) Wow, I just saw a pig fly right by my window!
Till next Monday,
